I’ve been thinking abput confidence this morning. Its funny how different things can affect us and different people groups either grow our cofidence or knock it a bit. When I’m with a group of young people or people I know well I can be naturally confident (maybe even a bit bolshy!) but yesterday I had a job interview and couldn’t help feeling terrified. I struggled to make any sense out of what I was saying and mumbled things that afterwards I could have hit myself for. Needless to say the job isn’t mine but it did knock me for a wee while wondering why.

At the end of the day our danger in life is placing confidence and identity in anything other than Christ. It reminds me that I do not need to depend on the opinion of others to have value and must never idolize my reputation but depend completely on God for the source of myself.

“For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.” Psalm 71:5

Numbers

3 11 2009

Greetings blog readers. I finally got round to editing and uploading some pictures today (follow the Flickr link). This is one of my favourites from the trip to South Africa in May, taken at Life in George (check out Life).

The rest of life is full of numbers, adding up bills working out costs and setting fundraising & support targets for next year. For those who have been following my plans I have decided to head to South Africa in September 2010, this gives me time to get the house and other stuff sorted and all set to go to the OM conference in Holland in August, then on to SA!

If your in the area and want to find out a bit more about what I will be doing come along to an evening at Carreg Llwyd Church on Wednesday 11th Nov, 7.30-9pm, for info and refreshments (with an African flavour of course!).

I’ve been gigging. Not leaping around to loud music but to OM’s Getting Into Gear conference as preparation for joining OM in South Africa next year. It was a great weekend full of lots of useful information and some sound Biblical advice. What really struck me most was the fellowship with a bunch of complete strangers all with a passion for reaching the world for Jesus. It was great to listen to stories of how God has brought them to this place and where he will take them in the future. It’s amazing how in a few days complete strangers can become friends because we all share a passion, for the name of Jesus to be made known, for lives to be transformed by the power of his salvation and for the nations to ring with praises to his name.

Thought I should really think about bloggin again, just to keep it ticking over! Life is good, just waiting to see what God has in store in his time. Working away at a few bits and pieces and getting organised to go to South Africa as soon as is financially possible. Not much else to report, getting back into exercise routine after a few too many weeks off and a few too many coffee and cakes!

I’ve been raking through my hard drive sorting old photos so may use some here for a while. This was in the local laundrette years ago. I liked the reflections.

So its been a week of wall to wall kids work then a bit of a cold (no I haven’t got swine flu before anyone asks for the 100th time) so no exercise until a ride out on the singlespeed last night, was grand to be out. Calories lost it a bit last week but back on track this week so will see how it goes. Monday weigh in 197lb.

I never tire of this view, one of myfavourite places in Wales. Took a group up the Miners track and down the Pyg track on Snowdon this weekend. Was a grand day despite rain and fog! Been a busy weekend and a week full of activities means less bloggin this week. Should re-surface on Friday!

(lost track of the calories over the weekend and lost nothing this Will keep at it!)

Leaving

Ok the calorie count got dismissed today (as did any time for exercise) as it was leaving day at my final youth club. I was OK for most of the day but gave in to chocolates and hot dogs at the end. Everyone needs a day off right? Will get back to it tomorrow. Feels very weird leaving all my youth groups and saying goodbye to kids I have known for the last three years. Its a weird length of time, not quite long enough to know them really well but long enough to know them enough … if you get my drift. Anyhow I’m off to bed, didn’t sleep well last night, sporadic dreams about one specific person who just kept cropping up all over the place. Bit weird. Happy weekend all.

Slaving at the computer all day wrapping up some paperwork, headed to mums about 4pm, tea and off to home group. Day gone by!

Calories: 1556, exercise none

Midweek

15 07 2009

Had a lovely day off today spent with friends and then enjoyed tonights late sunshine with a ride. I love riding around creation on days like today! I always think it is so much more wonderful to look around and praise God for what he has made and revealed of himself in the beauty than to wander by and think it all came about by some random chance.

Calories 1379, exercise 17miles on the singlespeed :)
